Accepting that we can’t change everything
At times I have a hard time dealing with things that I can’t change – things that are beyond my control – I’m sure most of you can relate to that.
Realistically, we can’t change everything and we certainly can’t change other people, we have no right to do that. Of course that doesn’t stop people from trying.
It’s important to accept what you can’t change. Obviously we can change the way we react or behave BUT we can’t change others.
Worrying about it doesn’t help! Make a commitment to yourself by saying “I can’t change this, so I won’t let it interfere with the rest of my life”.
Learn to be content with what you have. I’m not saying ‘this is your lot – put up with it’. This doesn’t mean you can’t strive for more or better, but so many people can’t see that life isn’t so bad especially when they’re fighting against it.
Concentrate on here and now! The past can’t be changed, whatever happened has happened, sure you can change yourself through healing from past hurts and things done against you, but the facts of what’s been before can’t change.
There is little reason to worry about the future, it isn’t here yet and is always uncertain, none of us really know what it will bring, yet we worry about it. Try and enjoy each day as best you can.
Try to judge and accept yourself fairly. Try not to compare yourself to others as this only leads to feelings of inferiority or superiority. This is unrealistic because no one person is more important than another.
